Expanding a backyard - Land clearing project
On this project, our client wanted a quarter of an acre of trees cleared so that she could fence in a larger part of her property. For land clearing projects, the cost can range from a few hundred dollars to several thousand, depending on the acreage and the size of the trees on the land. For this project, the size of the trees that we were cutting were less than 14" in diameter. There were a few larger trees that our client wanted to leave in her backyard.
We began by clearing out pathways so that our machine had some maneuverability. A lot of the smaller trees and underbrush could be cut with a chainsaw . The larger trees were pushed over with the machine and chopped up into smaller pieces.
This video shows us about halfway through, after we had cleared most of the smaller trees and were working on getting all of the larger trees on the ground. The amount of rocks that were on this property were staggering. We got the idea of why Rock Hill got its name, because we had never seen this many rocks on one lot.
After hauling away all of the debris and rocks, we did a slight grade with our track loader and cleaned up the area. Overall, this quarter acre project took 2 days to complete. Here is what it looked like when we finished:
The roots and the vegetation will need to die out and decay over a few months before the ground will be ready for any landscaping, or we could go in and spread fresh dirt to cover all of the debris and roots still in the ground.
